As a recovering engineer, Mark spent 8 years here in the Silicon Valley before throwing in the towel to find his calling. As a tech and gadget nut, Mark soon found himself bouncing around in the startup world, and after a few attempts, became CEO & Founder of YouTern. It was at YouTern where Mark would soon meet Ted, a 3-time CEO and founder of Switch and Shift, a blog turned multi-media hub focused on the human side of business. Ted and Mark share the same passion for leadership and how social will affect all aspects of business, which ultimately led them to co-writing, A World Gone Social: How Companies Must Adapt to Survive.

In this podcast, Mark and Ted share the significance of active listening, and how brands must start paying more attention to their customers. They also reveal the secrets of social from marketing to customer service, and how they approached this book with both the CMO and new hire in mind. With CEO’s specifically, Mark mentions how some brands that are late to social, will never catch the competitors if they don’t adopt quickly. Lastly, Mark and Ted predict the near future of social media and hint at which social media platform is on its way out.
