No matter how advanced we are with technology, you can never replace the value and impact of a face-to-face meeting.

Landing a meeting with influential people or powerful prospects is a daunting task. But there is a way for anybody to land a meeting with anybody.

It starts with a list. A carefully curated, realistic, and relevant list of no more than 10 people that make sense for you and your journey. Make sure to have fun with your selections. These should be people you want to meet and are excited about.

Once you’ve got your pool of folks, do your research. Find out more about them and their business journey. Learn about their life, their career, their awards, and get to know them from afar. This will help you with the next step which is answering the question of ‘what’s in it for them?’.

Meetings are only successfully obtained if there is an exchange of value. They should also be getting something out of the encounter so make sure to know what it is you bring to the table.

When it comes time to craft the ask, have fun! Deliver your request in a unique way that is creative and maintains their attention. Take a risk and think outside the box. It will pay off, I promise.

Handle your meeting request like you would an email marketing campaign where follow-ups are key. Touch base and ensure your message has been received.

To really seal the deal, find out where your candidate hangs out professionally. Make it as easy as possible for them to connect with you. The less time and effort they have to spend getting the value from your meeting, the more likely they are to say yes.

Lastly, give it time. Give it space. Give them space. Ensure your message is received but don’t run it into the ground.
